Stratis Monthly - December

Written by
Iain McCain

December 6, 2021

December is here and Stratis is busier than ever as the year draws to a close. This past month has brought with it some exciting developments to share with you, including the announcement of Stratis’ first decentralized NFT platform and the inauguration of the Stratis Blockchain R&D Center at the GL Bajaj Institute of Technology & Management in India. As 2022 fast approaches, we’re excited to see how these updates unfurl over the next year as the Stratis community continues to grow.

Stratis’ $100,000 Hackathon

After the success of the first two hackathons, Stratis launched the third edition, the Stratis Build Hackathon, on the 29th November. This hackathon aims to shine a light on new talent in the blockchain technology space by setting a criteria free from restrictions: the only requirement is that your submission utilizes Stratis Blockchain Technology. The Hackathon Prize Pool boasts $100,000 USD, including a $30,000 USD Grand Prize and many other prizes ready to be won by participants. Stratis Build Hackathon also has several sponsors, including the APPG, CMS, and Triad Group Plc, with the latter two set to offer a bonus of $5,000 to entries that meet some of their specific requirements. The Stratis Build Hackathon will close on the 30th January 2022 and winners will be announced on the 23rd February 2022, so join the 100+ participants in developing blockchain solutions now!

Stratisphere NFT platform announced

Let’s launch NFTs into the Stratisphere. In November 2021, Stratis announced the imminent release of their long-awaited NFT platform, Stratisphere. Stratisphere is the first decentralized NFT platform to be built on the Stratis platform, and it operates with 0% platform fees. You can follow the platform on Twitter @StratisphereNFT to participate in upcoming giveaways and to be the first in line to hear about new collections launched on the platform.

Stratis commissioned industry-first research into NFTs and blockchain

Stratis recently collaborated with the insight agency Opinium to release an industry-first piece of research into how game studios truly feel about the integration of blockchain technology into video gaming. Across 197 developers surveyed in the United States and the UK, 58% of developers are beginning to use blockchain and 47% have started to introduce non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to their titles. Two-thirds of studios expect the presence of blockchain to dominate the gaming industry within the next two years, and 56% of respondents plan to use such technology in the next 12 months. This confirms a perspective already held here amongst the Stratis community: blockchain and NFTs are an inevitable part of the future of video games.

Genesis NFT collection

This month, Stratis announced a Genesis NFT collection that is minted explicitly for InterFlux Decentralized Government Board members who carry out their operations through a Stratis Sidechain Masternode. At Cirrus Block 3,430,000 this December, active Stratis Sidechain Masternodes will receive a unique NFT from this new and finite collection. As not all members of the Stratis community can operate a Stratis Sidechain Masternode, Stratis will also launch an additional collection for its community, so watch this space for updates on how you can own one of the first NFTs issued on Stratis.

Cirrus tokens began trading

After recognizing that it is optimal to execute smart contracts on a sidechain rather than the Stratis mainchain, we devised the Cirrus token to avoid the mainchain congestion seen in common blockchains such as Ethereum. On the 22nd of November, the resulting Cirrus token (CRS) began trading on DigiFinex. Cirrus tokens are required to pay for smart contract transactions conducted on the Cirrus Sidechain for DeFi, NFTs, and other uses. As Stratis extends its reach with the launch of our Stratisphere NFT platform, the demand for smart contract execution will soon surge, so we’re pleased to have the Cirrus token in place as our Stratis ecosystem continues to thrive. You can read more about the Cirrus token here: https://www.stratisplatform.com/2021/11/19/explaining-the-cirrus-token/

Dawn of Ships update

Eagle-eyed members of the Stratis community may have noticed the Stratis flag featured on the updated cover art for the upcoming Dawn of Ships game. This latest update is a part that users will be able to buy and sell once the game goes live. Stratis is excited to be working with Dawn of Ships to develop an immersive and interactive game that allows the player to obtain and use NFTs as they play. Keep an eye out for updates on when Dawn of Ships will launch via their Twitter: @DawnofShips!

Polycarbongame proposal passed SDA vote

Stratis Masternode operators recently approved the proposal from Polycarbongame to create a gallery space that incorporates modern XR interfaces and revolutionizes the 3D gallery experience by allowing users access to interactive views of the NFT items that they can trade in the marketplace. Congratulations to Polycarbongame on a successful vote!

The Astroverse NFT giveaway

To celebrate the launch of Stratisphere, Stratis will distribute the first 2000 of the 20,000 NFTs from The Astroverse Club through giveaways on the platform’s Twitter account, @StratisphereNFT. Be sure to follow the account to be in the running to win one of them!

New Stratis Tutorials

We recently added a series of tutorials to our YouTube channel, Stratis Platform, to help our community master Cirrus and STRAX transfers. These videos are no longer than 4 minutes apiece and are quick and easy to follow. Find them here: https://www.youtube.com/c/StratisPlatform/videos

New NFT games released for community testing

Over the past two months, Stratis announced that they would be modifying the games Red Runner and NFT Knives to install new functions that can reward the player with various tokens. Red Runner, an open-source game developed by Bayat Games, was updated to include features such as a non-custodial wallet, NFT minting, and a play-as-you-earn function that rewards the player with tokens based on the distance they travel and the coins they collect in a session.NFT Knives is an endless one-touch game in which animated knives are used to defeat obstacles and collect coins. Both of these games enjoyed exciting new updates when they were released for community testing this month, and we look forward to receiving feedback from players.

Launch of Stratis Blockchain R&D Center

Another exciting development this month was the launch of the Stratis Blockchain R&D Center in collaboration with the C# Corner and the GL Bajaj Institute of Technology & Management (GLBITM) in India. It was a privilege to visit the university this November for the launch event, and we look forward to working with GLBITM and the institution’s students in the near future.

Stratis Monthly - November

The last two months have been incredibly busy here at Stratis. Not only have we announced new community projects like London Desserts Club and Space War, but we have hosted a community vote and decided to migrate to a layer-one Ethereum blockchain. With so much to discuss, it’s time to look at our milestones over the last two months. Stratis migrates to Ethereum ecosystem, becoming StratisEVM StratisEVM is a web3-ready Ethereum-based proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain featuring the native $STRAT token. StratisEVM will be a layer one blockchain, with plans to introduce a layer two to deliver high-throughput and low-finality decentralised computing. These advanced capabilities are specifically designed to support gaming and DeFi applications. The move to a one-layer Ethereum was not one taken lightly. The resolution was put to the community, who were then given two weeks to cast their vote, which resulted in 99.3% in favour of the migration. By moving to Ethereum, Stratis hopes to accelerate innovation by making it easier to develop blockchain solutions using more widely available tooling and the interoperability capabilities inherent to the Ethereum ecosystem. For all of the web3 gamers, StratisEVM promises to bolster and support the expansion of our P2E ecosystem, as we’ve announced that Dawn of Ships, Space War, and London Desserts will all be released on StratisEVM Next year and utilize our Club Pass and $OVIA token. We have written a series of blogs that go into the transition more fully — we welcome you to have a look. Corgi Dash Two months ago, we saw the final version of Corgi Dash submitted to Google Play. In the run-up to the global release of the game, developers have been working hard on new and exciting features. These additions were designed to make the game more enjoyable for NFT natives and casual players alike while continuing to increase the value of the game. Two months on, feedback from players has been overwhelmingly positive, with many citing its enjoyability and smooth performance on their Google devices. Corgi Dash - Play Store Dawn of Ships update September welcomed the official release of the RPG game Dawn of Ships. This latest version is a significant achievement for the developers, who have worked tirelessly to create an innovative game while bug patching and crowdsourcing feedback as they went. Via the official discord, Dawn of Ships commented: ‘This release includes all the crucial features we promised to deliver to our community. It has been a lengthy journey, and I am delighted that we have delivered on our promises to build a massive 3D P2E game from scratch. I am also proud of all the tools and projects we have contributed to the Stratis Blockchain." The Dawn of Ships team aren't slowing down anytime soon, with plans for game updates already in the works. The team is working towards players being able to burn ships in return for better vessels while improving performance and adding utilities. Plans are even in the works for the Dawn of Ships to release on the Epic Game Store. London Desserts Club We are also thrilled to unveil the upcoming web3 game, London Desserts, created in collaboration with the talented TinyLizard Studio. The game will be an immersive experience on StratisEVM, billed to launch in early 2024. London Desserts is a simulation game that puts you in charge of your own cafe, allowing you to nurture and expand the business. Players work and manage their dessert shop to generate revenue that can be converted to $OVIA tokens. In this P2E time-management game, you need to serve your customers, upgrade your equipment, and shop to increase your revenue and earnings. Ticketsphere Last month, founder of Stratis Chris Trew joined Jill Malandrino, host of Nasdaq Trade Talks, to discuss the soft launch of Ticketsphere and web3 gaming. Chris explained how Ticketsphere and NFT ticketing can resolve some of the main issues we see in the ticketing world. He went on to explain how we’re witnessing a growing trend of people buying tickets for popular events en-masse with the intention of reselling on third party sites. As a result, fans become priced out of going to their favourite shows and events and artists and organisers see none of this extra value. Within Ticketsphere, it is possible to prevent this secondary market entirely if the artists wish. Alternatively, if artists are open to a secondary market, they have ways that they can program the tickets in line with their demands. For example, a ceiling might prevent tickets sold at an enormously inflated price and prevent fans from being priced out. Artists could also embed royalties into their tickets, which means that everytime a ticket is resold, the artist earns a percentage of the cost. Ticketsphere is visible on our site for anyone eager to experience the future of ticketing.     That’s a wrap for the November monthly! Stratis Monthly - September

Summer may be cooling down as September knocks at the door, but things have been heating up on the Stratis blockchain. Developers have been working tirelessly to create new and exciting features and bug fixes across games, as well as our proprietary app and service. Meanwhile, Ticketsphere continues to capture the attention of landmark venues. It’s time to reflect on this great month for developers everywhere working on the Stratis blockchain. Corgi Dash It is with great excitement that we can finally announce that the final version of Corgi Dash has been completed and submitted to Google Play. In the run-up to the global release of Corgi Dash, developers have been working hard on new and exciting features. These new features were designed to make the game more enjoyable for NFT natives and casual players alike while continuing to increase the value of the game. Progress can now be stored using Google logins, while 12 Google Play achievements have been added to the game. With in-game coins, players also have the opportunity to buy accessories and dress up their corgis. Dawn of Ships update Dawn of Ships developers have had a busy month, responding to the community feedback while new features have been built and old issues resolved. Dawn of Ships is transferring their server to a private dedicated version to enhance security for players and prevent data from being leaked or stolen by third parties. There has also been some significant troubleshooting — at the beginning of the month, Dawn of Ships successfully applied a hotfix patch to resolve issues with the leaderboard. Before the patch, OVIA earned through Ambush was not added to the leaderboard in the game. In the latest version, developers have also fixed the “sailing into the void” bug. All the while, the new features launched in July are up and running with great success, including and not limited to Ambush mode, purchasing gold with OVIA and of course, the leader board displaying the top 10 active plunder and ambush missions. You can play Dawn of Ships now on your Windows PC by downloading and running the game from here: https://github.com/obikhajj/Dawn-of-Ships-Release-Builds/releases/tag/v1.2.1 Ticketsphere The background work on Ticketsphere’s operability has reached completion and is ready for use. The Ticketsphere project was a significant undertaking, as it sought to resolve issues in the ticketing industry and revolutionise how we use and understand tickets. The Ticketsphere app allows for convenient and secure ticketing, including unique perks like collectibles that sit alongside the NFT tickets. The app also offers revolutionary ticketing solutions for event organisers, as it is a fraud-reducing and eco-friendly way to implement non-custodial ownership through NFT tickets. The fraud-prevention and secure features set NFT tickets apart from conventional tickets, while promising to address the biggest problems experienced by event goers and event organisers alike. Ticketsphere is visible on our site for anyone eager to experience at the future of ticketing. We are now in talks with venues, so keep an eye out for event announcements so you can be amongst the first to use our NFT tickets.

Stratis Monthly - August

August marks the last triumphant month of summer before we start to settle in for autumn. For those not enjoying the sun or off on holiday, its time to review the achievements of the developers working on the Stratis Platform over the last month. Cross game NFTs come to Corgi Dash and Dawn of Ships The Dawn of Ships (DoS) and Corgi Dash cross-game NFT feature is live. Players can now use their Corgi Dash NFTs in DoS to get a plunder bonus, means ships that have a Corgi NFT as part of their crew can earn more. Cross-game NFTs could offer the platform to make a unified gaming ecosystem across games, which otherwise would have very little in common. The teams at DoS and Corgi Dash are excited to see the uptake on this collaboration, as are we. Dawn of Ships update Along with the cross-game NFTs, Dawn of Ships (DoS) has also released an exciting update. DoS has added a new section to the main menu that shows the top 10 active plunder and ambush missions, offering players a new way to see the global community playing the game and aspire to be a part of it. The new update also officially introduces Ambush mode — an exciting new game feature that allows players to disrupt, attack, loot the plunder missions of other players. Finally, the update offers a new feature that enables players to purchase gold using OVIA. This makes in-game gold purchases easier to purchase and the internal economy more immersive. Ticketsphere Ticketsphere has officially opened its doors to the public, enabling anyone to access to its enhanced features and seamless operability. The app allows for convenient and secure ticketing, including unique perks like collectibles that sit alongside the NFT tickets. The app also offers revolutionary ticketing solutions for event organisers, as it is a fraud-reducing and eco-friendly way to implement non-custodial ownership through NFT tickets. We are now in talks with venues, so keep an eye out for event announcements so you can be one of the first to use our NFT tickets. Stratis DevEx Stratis DevEx is a project dedicated to making smart contracts and programming on the Stratis blockchain as simple as possible. We want to ensure the Stratis blockchain is to continue to thrive and prosper. The team has recently released some videos explaining work on the Stratis blockchain. One is on browsing the Opdex smart contract repository and the other looks at running the Stratis DevEx GUI on Linux. If you’re a programmer who is interested in working on the Stratis blockchain we recommend giving them a watch.
